Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Sports Management/Sports Policy

The School of Sport and Exercise Sciences is seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Sport Management. We are looking for a candidate who has expertise in Sports Management and can contribute in the teaching of our undergraduate programme in Sports Management (teaching modules such as human resources, marketing or event management or sports policy) and who can contribute in the development of a forthcoming Master's Degree in Sports Management. The appointee will also be expected to conduct internationally leading research in a relevant field.

As a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Sport Management you will:

  • Teach, develop and administer undergraduate and future postgraduate modules and programmes related to Sport Management.
  • Provide academic support and supervision to undergraduate and future postgraduate students in the School.
  • Be research active and contribute to the School’s research strategy at a leading institutional level.
  • Assist with the School’s core activities and seek external funding for research and/or enterprise related work.

To succeed in this role you will:

  • Be educated to Undergraduate degree in a subject related to Sport Management, Management or Business Studies or equivalent.
  • Have A PhD in a relevant subject area to Sport Management, Management or Business Studies or equivalent.
  • Teaching experience relevant to HE and advanced and detailed knowledge appropriate for teaching Sport Management and related topics in HE (e.g. principles of management, human resources, marketing, event management, sports policy).
  • Evidence of high quality recent research activity related to Sports Management and/or Sports Policy and evidence of winning external grant income.

For the Senior Lecturer post, applicants must demonstrate a higher standard of achievement in either excellence in practice/activity or leadership within and/or beyond the discipline and their University and how their achievements have been recognised in impact and recognition. Candidates must also demonstrate a strong record of research leadership and successful grant applications.

At Senior Lecturer level, the post holder will also be expected to undertake a major leadership role within the School.

Our aim is to establish the University of Kent as a premier institution for Sport and Exercise in teaching and research.
