University of Edinburgh - Postdoctoral Research Fellow

We are seeking an independent and motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow for a 4 year research project exploring cerebral Small Vessel Disease (SVD), particularly looking at the underlying disease mechanisms and interactions between endothelial cells and white matter. We know that in cerebral SVD there are pathological changes in the white matter of the brain, which are identifiable on MR scans and associated with cognitive decline (and increased risk of stroke). However, the mechanisms underlying this white matter change is less well-defined, and this project will study this in rat models of the disease, and in human cells and tissue, looking at interactions at the cellular and molecular level.

The post is funded through the Edinburgh Dementia Research Centre in the UK MRC Dementia Research Institute, and will have strong links to both the highly active dementia and myelin research communities in Edinburgh.

Candidates are encouraged to contact Anna Williams if they would like further information.
