[Temporary Cover] (Maternity Cover)

The Department of Geography wishes to appoint a suitably qualified individual to provide maternity cover for the role of Assistant Departmental Administrator (Projects) from late October 2017, or as soon as possible thereafter. The post is available for one year or until the return of the current post-holder, whichever is the sooner.

The role-holder will work flexibly and employing a significant degree of initiative to provide high-level administrative support to the Department, and in particular to the Head of Department and Department Administrator, through a mixture of on-going responsibilities and project work.

The successful candidate will have proven research, analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to engage with strategy. They will be able to think independently and take initiative; to work flexibly and effectively to manage parallel work streams and competing deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, and they will need to be able to write well in a variety of formats; to summarise, synthesise and present information effectively; to develop ideas and to form and make convincing arguments, face-to-face and in writing.

Maternity cover: This post is fixed-term for 12 months or the return of the post holder, whichever is the earlier.
