HSS Head of Operations

Oxford Brookes University - Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Oxford Brookes University brings together academic expertise and high quality teaching from Law, Education, History, Philosophy and Culture, English and Modern Languages and Social Sciences. As the biggest Faculty within Oxford Brookes we have enrolled 7500 students to our undergraduate and postgraduate taught and research programmes over the last three years. We return highly in both the Research Excellence Framework and the National Student Survey. The Faculty is currently based on both the Gipsy Lane and Harcourt campuses. In 2020/21 the whole faculty will be relocating to the Harcourt campus following extensive redevelopment and investment.

The Faculty is seeking a pro-active and confident individual to join its Senior Management Team as Head of Operations. With significant experience of administrative leadership and management the successful applicant will understand how to operate effectively within a complex and changing environment and be able to demonstrate their ability to innovate and to work collaboratively with senior and academic staff.

They will have an important role in both the day to day running of the Faculty and its overall strategic development and must be able to build successful relationships within and outside the Faculty whilst also leading, managing and motivating a team of highly skilled and committed professional services staff. They will act as a key liaison point between the Faculty and University Directorates (including estates), promote a culture of continuous improvement and ensure the effective implementation of University and Faculty policies and procedures.

A wide-ranging understanding of the Higher Education environment would be a significant advantage for this role, as would experience of change management and organisational development.

For informal enquiries and/or to discuss the role in more detail please contact the PVC/Dean of Faculty Professor Anne-Marie Kilday at akilday@brookes.ac.uk
