Architectural Products Engineer (KTP Associate) The Rooflight Company

This is an exceptional and exciting opportunity in architectural product development working as part of an internationally respected research group for a vibrant, award winning business. Based in West Oxfordshire with the Rooflight Company you will lead a project to develop, test and launch an innovative new product range, working alongside leading academics from the Architectural Engineering research group at Oxford Brookes University. The post combines research, training and career development (with a significant training budget), with the aim of preparing the applicant for a senior role within the industry.

The Architectural Engineering research group has a broad and varied portfolio of research activities of approximately £1m value and is unique in its Europe wide links with industry and practice. The Rooflight Company is a dynamic enterprise wishing to push the technical boundaries with its range of products and is looking for a self-motivated and ambitious individual to assist the business with the next phase of its development. The right candidate will have the opportunity to progress within the company on successful conclusion of the project.

You will be responsible for:

  • Technical feasibility assessment, industry consultation and commercial appraisal
  • Prototype development and proof of concept
  • Systems engineering
  • Pilot implementation
  • Leading on the development of a commercialisation strategy
  • Production base design and implementation
  • Phased product launch to a developed programme based on current company practice.

You should have:

  • Minimum 2:1 first degree or equivalent in either Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering or Production Engineering or others as listed on the job description
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Sound interpersonal skills to work effectively with external partners and converse at a professional level
  • IT skills for report preparation and presentations
  • Ability to understand/or to develop an understanding of aspects of heat conduction and thermal performance of systems sufficient to inform product development
  • Ability to work in a production environment and contribute to the development of quality engineered solutions.
