Postdoctoral Research Associate in Inorganic Chemistry

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work under the supervision of Professor Dermot O’Hare on a research project funded by SCG Chemicals Co. Ltd, Thailand for a period of 24 months. The project involves the exploring the use of pentalene metal complexes to catalyse the copolymerisation reaction of CO2 with propylene oxide (PO) to synthesise new type of high value biodegradable polymer poly (propylene carbonate).

Applicants must hold a PhD in organometallic chemistry or a relevant subject area, or have submitted your thesis prior to taking up your appointment. Have experience or be willing to learn new techniques in solid state materials chemistry characterisation and synthesis. Manage own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines.

The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, 12 Mansfield Road, OX1 3TA and is available from the 1 November 2017.
