Salary: Senior Lecturer: £39,922 - £49,149; Lecturer: £34,520 - £38,832.

The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences is passionate about the principles and applications of Science and Technology in all its forms and strives to be excellent in research, teaching and innovation.

Working within the Department of Applied Sciences, in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, you will provide expertise in the area of Food Science, to further enhance research, teaching and entrepreneurial activities. This will include designing, developing and delivering high quality teaching provision, undertaking research to produce quality academic outputs and participating in external activity to generate income and promote the subject area.

Food Science is an established aspect of the Department’s research and teaching portfolio, with state-of-the-art facilities for research, including recently refurbished and well equipped laboratories for food technology and organoleptic testing, preparative science, biochemistry and molecular biology and tissue culture, complemented by high performance computing and dedicated facilities for metabolomics, proteomics and genomics (including MySeq and PacBio sequencing platforms). Our research-informed teaching in Food Science is an essential part of our undergraduate Food Science and Nutrition degree programme. Following the Departments major contribution to the Universities’ REF2014 submission, our Food & Nutrition researchers are building a strong research profile, with excellent cross-Faculty and external collaborative links.

The successful candidate must hold a first degree and be qualified to doctoral level in a specialism relevant to Food Science, with specialist knowledge gained through research activity, professional practice or consultancy.  A proven ability to deliver high quality, research led teaching and possession of a publication profile are essential for the role.
