Main Purpose of the Post

This post will strategically lead a team of Subject Librarians supporting research and academic courses within the School of Human and Health Science, College of Medicine, and College of Science located at the Singleton Campus.

The postholder will serve as the liaison between Library academic services and the Schools/College, proactively engaging with staff, students and researchers on their information and training needs. It is expected that this postholder will strategically planning, delivery and evaluation of teaching/training sessions for a range of Information and Digital Literacy skills to students and staff across the University’s Singleton and St David’s Campus in Carmarthen.

The postholder will ensure that appropriate resources are collected to support the academic and research endeavours of the students, researchers and staff of the University. The postholder will ensure that budgets are spent wisely, balancing the wide range of needs of the Schools/Colleges, with resources both in print and electronically.

The Schools/Colleges supported are research intensive, and the postholder, in liaising with the Library Research Support Team, will be expected to take a full part in developing innovative and challenging services to meet the changing needs of researchers and staff within the University.

The School of Human and Health Science and College of Medicine have students on placements in the NHS Hospitals throughout Wales. The postholder will work to ensure library support is given to students on placement or at a distance, in collaboration with the NHS librarians. The postholder will assist the Head of Academic Support in developing strong partnerships with the NHS libraries in Wales.

A CILIP-recognised professional qualification in librarianship/information science is essential.  Applicants must also have experience of planning library inductions and/or information literacy sessions in an academic environment with excellent ICT, interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to providing a high quality library and information service
