Senior Research Lab Technician (Maternity Cover)

University of Cambridge - Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience, Central Cambridge

The successful candidate will be characterising endothelial cell function and interactions between the endothelium and other cells and endothelial cell responses to different environmental conditions, and how those responses affect susceptibility to cancer dissemination. Techniques required include mammalian cell culture methods, cell-based assays, molecular biology (qPCR) and western blotting, immunocytology and immunohistochemistry, so experience in imaging and microscopy are useful but not required. The candidate should also be prepared to analyse and interpret data, and is expected to be an active member of the group in research, discussions and presentations. This is an excellent opportunity to engage in a stimulating research environment and an exciting topic.

The candidate should have an HNC, or equivalent, in biochemistry or a biology-related subject, experience on some of the techniques outlined above, have manual dexterity, good organisation and communication skills, good IT skills and be able to multi-task whilst working methodically and precisely. He/she should also be able to work independently.

Maternity cover: This post is fixed-term for 7 months or the return of the post holder, whichever is the earlier.
