PhD Studentship: Centre for Doctoral Training: Entrepreneurship and Innovation

University of Strathclyde

The University of Strathclyde has recently commissioned the world’s first Centre for Doctoral Training dedicated to Entrepreneurship and Innovation, partnering with a number of prestigious external organisations to deliver world-class research. To this end the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship in partnership with Politecnico di Milano School of Management is looking to recruit a PhD student for a funded doctoral research project. We invite research proposals of around 3-4 pages for a studentship based on the following subjects:

  • Innovation Through Tradition
  • Design thinking in the era of digital transformation
  • Open innovation in resource efficiency for closed-loop supply chain models
  • Innovations and new business ventures in the energy efficiency service supply chain
  • Social & Sustainable Innovation
  • Circular Economy

The successful applicant will principally be based in the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship and supervised by an academic based there, but will also work closely with an academic supervisor from Politecnico di Milano School of Management. Projects are expected to propose deploying a mixed methodology approach that will provide both academic and practical outputs.

Applicants are expected to have an interest or commitment to research in entrepreneurship and innovation.

The studentship covers home tuition fees and a stipend of £14,510 pa for 3 years. Candidates are required to have an excellent undergraduate degree with Honours (or equivalent Undergraduate) degree in a relevant business, scientific or social science subject (minimum upper second classification), and a Masters degree (or equivalent) will be strongly preferred. Fluency in Italian would be a benefit. Interested applicants should send a CV and a short statement of research interest to Dr. Niall MacKenzie (niall.mackenzie@strath.ac.uk) by 27th September 2017). Studentships are expected to start in October 2017.
