A Research Assistant is required for a project funded by the University of Sussex Research Development Fund. The project will explore the impact of parenting and parental anxiety on children’s experiences with risk and challenge through risky play, and the development of childhood fears and anxiety.

The postholder will be involved in relationship building with gatekeeper organisations (e.g. schools, charities, parenting groups) and the recruitment of families to participate in online and in-person research studies. They will be expected to take an active role in preparation of study materials, data collection, and data management and analysis.

The postholder will be supervised by faculty in the School of Psychology (Dr. Kathryn Lester and Professor Andy Field). Successful candidates will have at least an undergraduate degree in Psychology, experience of working with families and children, and the ability and willingness to work flexibly. The successful candidate will need to have a current portable DBS certificate, or, obtain DBS clearance.
