Senior Centre Administrator

Applications are invited for a Senior Centre Administrator position in the Department of Social Science (DSS) which houses the Centre for Longitudinal Studies (CLS), an ESRC Resource Centre. CLS has responsibility for four of Britain's internationally renowned cohort studies;

  • 1958 National Child Development Study (NCDS)
  • 1970 British Cohort Study (BCS70)
  • Millennium Cohort Study (MCS)

This full-time appointment will be available from 1st November 2017 and is funded until 31st March 2020 in the first instance. This is a key role working within CLS administration team, supporting the CLS Director in project management of CLS’ complex research and infrastructure programme, which includes actively maintaining project management procedures for delivering CLS surveys, as well as extending a project management approach to new cross-cutting areas of CLS work.  In this post you will lead on governance and reporting activities to CLS’ key funder, the Economic and Social Research Council.

You will have a degree or equivalent experience.  You will combine excellent project management and organisational skills, including the ability to define clear organisational processes, with excellent communication skills. You will communicate clearly and confidently with internal and external stakeholders, and have the ability to gauge complex or sensitive situations and navigate these effectively.  You will have excellent writing skills including the ability to write clearly and concisely, particularly in preparing reports.  You should have formal training in project management, or demonstrably equivalent experience, and applied this project management within Higher Education or research environment. You will have, experience of preparing reports for ESRC, or other UK research council grants.
