University of Oxford - Nuffield Department of Medicine (NDM)

Jenner Institute
Centre for Clinical Vaccinology and Tropical Medicine

We require a Clinical Trials Assistant educated to A level standard, preferably to a degree level, to provide support in all aspects of trial management for the phase I and IIa malaria trials (both UK and overseas trials) and influenza trials. Although the main area of work will be on the malaria and influenza trials, you will also be required to support other trials as necessary.

You will support others in their work to enable the team to fulfil their obligations, working independently and using your own initiative. You will support the team flexibly and your duties will involve a range of tasks including organising meetings, maintaining, developing, and managing trial master files, arranging couriers, and ordering office supplies. Other key responsibilities include collating of trial data and contributing towards formal trial related reports. You may also be asked to do other tasks which contribute to the smooth running of the group.

As a member of the Clinical Trials Research Team you will work and communicate with a wide range of internal and external partners, so excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a professional demeanour are essential. You should have excellent organisation skills and attention to detail, and good numerical and writing skills. You should be able to manage your own workload effectively, prioritising tasks each day and managing your own time. Additionally, you should be a strong team player, who enjoys learning and taking on new tasks as you gain experience.

You should have a good working knowledge of computer software packages such as Microsoft Office, and you should be willing to learn new skills, and explore new technologies.

Previous experience working in a similar clinical/academic environment would be advantageous, however training will be provided.

Only applications received before 12.00 noon on 25 September 2017 will be considered.
