Deputy Director - International and Student Recruitment

The Post

The Deputy Director of International and Student Recruitment is a critical appointment to support the delivery and achievement of the University’s Strategic Plan 2016-2021. Based within International and Student Recruitment, the successful applicant will play a lead role in delivering, monitoring and evaluating ambitious recruitment and international strategies aligned to the University’s income growth KPIs.

The post will support the Director of International and Student Recruitment to lead teams within the areas of recruitment, international partnerships, study abroad and exchanges and work in partnership with colleagues in professional services, faculties and with key external stakeholders and partners to support, develop, monitor and deliver our objectives and targets.

Description of Duties

The post-holder will:

  • In close liaison with the Director of International and Student Recruitment, lead on the implementation and delivery of the University’s recruitment strategy to maximise recruitment and revenue growth potential to meet student recruitment targets within the University’s Strategic Plan.
  • In partnership with Communications, Marketing and Public Engagement (CMPE) and faculties, lead and manage the delivery and support of the University’s partnership with Hobsons to grow and enhance enquiry management and conversion activities in support of the University’s recruitment ambitions.
  • Provide senior level advice, expertise and knowledge to support the further development and implementation of the University’s Internationalisation Strategy.
  • Work collaboratively with CMPE and faculties to support development and delivery of integrated recruitment and marketing strategies to drive student recruitment growth in line with KPIs.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report to the Director of International and Student Recruitment and senior colleagues on recruitment data and developments across priority areas to inform the University’s recruitment strategy, identify growth and business development opportunities, and respond effectively to emerging issues.
  • In collaboration with the relevant Internationalisation Managers, lead on the development and delivery of growth strategies for fee-paying study abroad, International Summer School and English Language short courses.
  • In partnership with CMPE, Commercial Services and faculties, provide leadership and support for key institutional events such as Open Days and Applicant Days, and ensure the delivery of business requirements for such events.
  • Line manage relevant team leads within International and Student Recruitment and ensure that priorities and associated activities are clearly aligned to the University’s Strategic Plan and effectively impacting on KPIs.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across SACS and the University to promote an integrated approach to the provision of services to students, faculties and external stakeholders.
  • Deputise where appropriate for the Director of International and Student Recruitment.
  • The post will involve regular travel within the UK and overseas.
