About The Role

We are seeking to recruit a Technical Specialist in this domain to join Hartree Technology. As the successful candidate, you will be working with members of the Hartree Centre, the Scientific Computing Department (SCD) and Siemens.

You will report directly to Hartree Technology via the Future Technologies Group leader. You will be expected to attend external meetings, develop software based on requirements captured in these meetings and ensure its delivery. You will also develop and test new business models for localised energy supply using this technology.

You will be a member of the Future Technologies Team directly supporting the delivery of the CLASP project by performing the following duties:

  • Develop a Blockchain/Distributed ledger implementation linked into Siemens hardware for local energy supply
  • Liaise with the projects advisory board and wider business and academic community to set the projects core requirements
  • Using the Blockchain/Distributed ledger technology test the new models against the data in a project demonstrator
  • Engage in the project dissemination and exploitation process, giving presentations at appropriate events and developing project promotional material.

You will build relationships with all relevant stakeholders related to the project as well as engaging with Hartree customers’ representatives to support the project activities from initial scoping discussions to preparing and implementing work plans to monitoring and reporting their progress.

About You

It is essential that you have a degree in a numerate or scientific discipline or have equivalent experience.

Experience dealing with customers and managing their expectations and of supporting project delivery with project planning, resource monitoring etc. is required for this role.

You must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate at all levels both inside and outside the organisation, along with strong attention to detail and time management skills.

You will have software development and Linux operating system experience and experience in using/developing Distributed Ledger/Blockchain technology or cryptography.

While experience in supporting technical projects that use HPC would be beneficial to the role, it is not essential.

Some UK and overseas travel will be required.
