CFD Technical Engineer

A1 Sheet Metal Flues Limited (trading as A1 Flues), based near Ollerton, North Nottinghamshire, is a market leader in the design, manufacture and installation of bespoke commercial and industrial chimney, flue and exhaust systems. A1 works with the UK’s major mechanical and engineering contractors and has been involved in many prestigious projects including The Shard and the Leadenhall Building.

We have an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate to gain valuable industrial experience by leading the implementation of in-house capability in CFD to model the dispersion of gases extracted through flue systems.

You will be based at A1’s office for the duration of the project, but fully supported by an academic expert in dispersion modelling at the University of Nottingham’s Faculty of Engineering. You will gain relevant experience in managing and delivering a high profile, innovative project. Successful delivery of the project is likely to lead to permanent employment with the company.

  • Have some existing experience in the use of CFD software packages such as ANSYS FLUENT/CFX, STAR-CD, OpenFOAM.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing to a high standard and strong presentation skills.
  • Be organised and work methodically, managing their own time and workload effectively.

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships is a government funded technology transfer initiative that supports partnerships between business and universities, placing graduates on challenging, high profile projects.

Interviews will be held at A1 Sheet Metal Flues, Ollerton, North Nottinghamshire. Date to be confirmed. Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend the interview in person.

This full time post will be offered on a fixed-term contract until 31 January 2018.
