The Hartree Centre supports UK industry and academia in realising the benefits of novel technologies and is currently working across a number of areas: Cyber Security (Internet of Things, Blockchain), Cognitive Technical Computing as a Service (Containerisation, User Workflow, Energy Aware Scheduling), Machine Learning at Scale, Benchmarking and characterisation of novel architectures as well as providing technology foresight expertise to a wide range of projects that integrate these technologies.

About The Role

We are seeking to recruit a Technologist who will have responsibility for supporting the design and delivery of innovative solutions across a range of projects that fall within the Technology area of the Hartree Centre. In order to support the evolution of Future Technologies and the development of digital assets and Hartree Centre services you will work with the wider team to identify funding opportunities and collaborations with industry and academic partners.

You will ensure high level coordination and communication with both internal and external stakeholders, as well as with other groups within the Hartree Centre.  You will also be expected to assist in informing the technology division’s technical roadmap, horizon scanning to identify opportunities for the novel application or integration of technologies to deliver step change capabilities to real world problems.

Your role will see you actively promoting the activities of the Hartree Centre, raising the centres profile and general awareness amongst key stakeholders. Through your R&D activities, the development of collaborative partnerships and publications you will act as an evangelist for technological innovation.

UK and Overseas travel will occasionally be required for this role.

About You

You will possess a technical background and/or experience in either HPC software development/performance tuning, Cloud/Containerisation or Data Analytics along with the ability work to deadlines within a project environment.

You will have a degree in a mathematical, scientific, or computer science discipline, experience of data analysis, along with developing middleware and end to end solutions (from client to server).

Knowledge of good coding practice and standards is essential for this role. You will also have project experience in a technology environment.

Experience of big data processing solutions and data visualisation is desirable but not essential.
