Quality Assurance Officer

University of East London Professional Services - Quality Assurance and Enhancement

Interview Date: Wednesday 04 October 2017

At UEL, we pride ourselves on the real-world relevance of our courses and research and the impact we are making in our east London community and the wider world. We are an open and inclusive university that is focused on transforming the lives of our students. Our corporate plan sets out an ambitious agenda for our future success, which focuses on the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning and excellence in research. UEL has almost doubled its output of world-leading research in recent years and 94 per cent of the research UEL submitted to the Research Excellence Framework 2014 was deemed to be of an at least internationally recognised level. In the last two years, we have risen 79 places in the National Student Survey league table, and we achieved our highest ever student satisfaction score in 2017.

We are seeking a new colleague to join our Quality Assurance and Enhancement office, and help support outcomes-based quality work in the new external environment. You will provide advice, guidance, and support to both academic and support staff in relation to quality assurance systems, will service University-wide committees and working groups, and will be responsible for supporting the validation and review of in-house and collaborative programmes both in the UK and overseas. You will also represent the team on committees and working groups, and manage projects in specific areas of responsibility concerning quality and related areas, such as student feedback mechanisms or annual monitoring processes.

You will be a graduate, probably with experience of working in a support role in a large, complex organisation. Experience of dealing with quality assurance systems would be a distinct advantage, preferably in Higher Education. Excellent communication skills are essential, together with experience of servicing meetings and committees, and organising complex events. An understanding of the use of data in HE or other environments would be a distinct advantage.

A successful external candidate for this position would be employed by UEL Professional Services Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of UEL. Employees of UEL Professional Services Ltd work alongside UEL colleagues in delivery of UEL’s mission, and UEL Professional Services Ltd will adopt UEL HR policies and procedures in full. Further detail regarding employment benefits can be found at the employee benefits section of our recruitment pages.
