Graduate Teaching Assistant

University of Huddersfield - School of Music, Humanities and Media

Fixed term appointment for 2 years, 37 hours per week

This is an exciting new role at the University of Huddersfield for someone enthusiastic about teaching and learning, and who is looking to develop their career in teaching. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant you will support the School in meeting its strategic priorities in teaching and learning, which include improving student retention figures and helping students to reach their academic potential.

You will work mainly with first year undergraduate students, supporting them through the transition from School and Further Education College to Higher Education.

You will have some knowledge and understanding of a range of routes into HE, including BTEC, and experience in at least one of the subject areas in the School (history, English literature, creative writing, linguistics, music technology, music, drama, journalism, media and film studies). You will be prepared to take a multi-disciplinary approach to developing support for teaching and learning in these areas, and encouraging student engagement in higher-level studies.

The successful candidate will be expected to undertake the Post-Graduate Certificate in HE at the University of Huddersfield as a condition of employment.
