The Role

Gulbenkian is at a very exciting stage in its development. We are a National Portfolio Organisation with Arts Council England and have developed a national and international profile through an innovative multi-arts programme and pioneering projects such as ART31 and bOing! International Family Festival.

Gulbenkian’s current Director has recently been appointed as Director of Arts and Culture at the University creating an opportunity for an inspirational leader to develop Gulbenkian even further, and provide support in the planning and delivery of a dynamic and exciting strategic arts and culture vision for the University of Kent.

The Director of Gulbenkian will lead the implementation of the Gulbenkian Artistic Vision which is to work with a range of creative partners to become a leading 21st Century international arts centre offering an engaging, innovative and high quality arts programme. We will act as a catalyst developing and curating ideas, spaces and emerging talent. The empowerment of children and young people.

The Person

You will be a passionate and inspirational leader with experience of managing and programming a dynamic and successful arts venue. You will have credibility amongst artists, demonstrable business acumen and entrepreneurial flair as well as a track record in successful fundraising.

Experience of managing and developing a diverse range of staff is essential as is strong communication, relationship-building and negotiation skills.

Proven experience of managing high profile projects and a passion for creatively empowering children and young people will be essential.

You will be able to demonstrate an ability to build a range of strategic and sustainable creative relationships, regionally, nationally and internationally.
