Interview date: 23 October 2017

The Faculty of Health and Social Sciences is one of the largest faculties within the University, offering a full range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and vocationally orientated professional programmes for home and overseas students. Courses within the School of Healthcare Practice are concerned both with pre-professional registration and post-qualifying education. We offer pre-professional courses in Nursing, Midwifery, Operating Department Practice, and Paramedic Sciences, and foundation degrees for assistant practitioners. We also provide courses for post-qualified healthcare practitioners, and in public health, medical education, dental education and simulation, plus courses for overseas students.

The successful post-holder will take responsibility for teaching to the three year and eighteen month midwifery courses, plus short courses for qualified healthcare professionals, working collaboratively with local NHS Trusts who support students with practice learning. The role involves working with colleagues across the University to deliver exciting and innovative courses within a friendly and supportive environment.

We are particularly looking for someone with hospital based midwifery experience and/or qualified to undertake examination of the newborn. The post holder will be required to spend up to 50% of their time teaching in the clinical practice environment, supporting students and mentors.

The University actively encourages the development of its staff through postgraduate and doctoral studies. All staff are required to be research active and support is provided by the Institute of Health Research.
