Student Progression Administrator (ELS)

The role of Student Progression Administrator creates a vital link between academic delivery and student success by working closely with academic staff in the Personal Tutoring system.

The purpose of this role is to provide the School with targeted, on-the-ground support and to develop and deliver interventions for improving retention and progression. A key function of the role is therefore to ensure that students are brought effectively into the pastoral and support services provided by the School and also Student Experience and Support services, which in turn helps to ensure that support services and resources are targeted appropriately.

The post will form part of team of SPAs across the schools and is coordinated centrally ensuring the consistency and quality of provision, but on a day to day basis the post holder will report to Tony Libby, the School Operations Manager.

The SPAs’ duties include, but are not limited to;

  • Working with academic colleagues at the boundaries of their personal tutoring role in order to ensure that necessary pastoral support activities are targeted appropriately.
  • The provision of advice and guidance to students which directs and connects them to, relevant support services.
  • Activities tailored to the school’s specific needs that identifies and investigates student non-attendance.
  • Developing and maintaining positive student contact methodologies and ultimate relationships from welcome to graduation.
  • Working as a key Schools liaison with Student Experience and Support services to inform the provision of necessary pastoral and support activities.
  • Working with School Operation Manager and other academic and professional services staff within the School to develop activities that foster a sense of belonging for the students.
