Commercial Director

University of Leicester - Leicester Precision Medicine Institute

Fixed term contract for 1 year in the first instance.

The Institute of Precision Medicine is one of four flagship interdisciplinary Research Institutes that the University has launched as part its strategic vision. With the strapline ‘Improving Healthcare in an Ethnically Diverse Population’, the Leicester Precision Medicine Institute will coalesce and align the research missions of the university and the NHS in Leicester. This Centre of Excellence will develop, evaluate, and implement treatments based on individual patient differences, to provide better healthcare that recognises the ethnic diversity of our population.

As Commercial Director, you will work closely with the Institute Director to lead and deliver the strategy of the Institute.

In this exciting role you will work closely with the University and College Research and Enterprise team to lead the development, management and delivery of an ambitious programme of enterprise activity for the Institute, with a particular focus on our priority Enterprise Themes: Cancer, Cardiovascular, Diabetes and Metabolic Medicine, Genome Science, Microbial Sciences, Molecular and Cellular Bioscience, Neuroscience, Psychology and Behaviour, Population Science and Respiratory Science.

You will also lead the Enterprise agenda for the Institute ensuring its’ effective operation and development. The role will challenge you to deliver opportunities to ensure a consistent high level of quality in excellent research and knowledge output, successful generation of income to support research and knowledge transfer activity, together with facilitating activities across the core strands. In addition, you will be responsible for inspiring a team of staff across the Institute and external stakeholders and funders to ensure a collaborative and effective approach to deliver the strategic vision in optimising impact and generating opportunities for growth.
