Technician - Hard Materials

Location: The Parkside Building

Birmingham City University are looking to appoint an experienced 3D Workshop Technician to support our existing technical team. In the role you will be working closely with students to assist them in realising their full potential with Woods, Metals, Plastics, Ceramics, Glass and CAD CAM equipment and processes.

The working hours for the role are Monday to Thursday 13:00 - 21:00 and Friday 11:00 - 19:00

With industry experience we are looking for someone who can carry out the following:

  • Be organised to maintain and supervise workshop areas in the evening
  • Preparation of workshops, ready for the next working day
  • Comfortable communicating with students and liaising with technicians
  • Coordinate and supervise a small team of student helpers
  • A desire to learn new skills and techniques
  • A desire to learn to use new equipment

The successful candidate will need excellent team working and communication skills and be able to work professionally with a range of stakeholders across the University.

You will also be required to have an understanding of Health & Safety legislation and procedures.
