Research Associate in Low Permeability and Fluid Flow

Imperial College London - Chemical Engineering

Campus: South Kensington

Fixed term appointment until the end of December 2018

Applications are invited for a Research Associate to join the Qatar Carbonates and Carbon Storage Research Centre (QCCSRC), a multidisciplinary research project established to support the deployment of carbon sequestration in carbonates by improving the underlying science and engineering. The Centre involves academics and students across two departments on Campus. This post will be hosted in the Department of Chemical Engineering (South Kensington Campus) under the supervision of Dr. John Crawshaw.

The successful candidate will have a PhD (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering, process engineering, geo-engineering or in a science/engineering subject appropriate for conducting research within QCCSRC.

You will have a proven track record in conducting high quality research, as evidenced by innovative publications in peer reviewed journals.  Knowledge and understanding of fluid flow behaviour in reactive rock/fluid systems and experience in working with rock/mineral samples for reactive flow measurements under reservoir conditions is essential. Experience with in-situ micro-scale imaging techniques is also desirable.  The applicant will also have experience in chemical analysis of fluids containing dissolved minerals and the thermodynamic modelling of such systems.

The post is available immediately on a fixed term contract until end of December 2018. The post is based in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London (South Kensington Campus).

*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as a Research Assistant within the salary range £32,380 - £34,040
