Research and Business Development Manager

This post will make an important contribution to the successful implementation of the University’s research strategy, focusing on specific objectives within the School of Life Sciences and the wider Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS). The post-holder will support initiatives to increase and diversify research and business-related income and outputs. Working collaboratively with other Development Managers and Officers, the post-holder will support School and Faculty contributions towards the University’s Global Research Themes and Beacons of Excellence.

The School of Life Sciences at Nottingham is organised into three Research Divisions; 1) Physiology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience, 2) Cells, Organisms and Molecular Genetics and 3) Infections, Immunity and Microbes. Indeed the breadth of research in the School reflects the importance of cross cutting, interdisciplinary research within the University. This is an exciting opportunity to drive forward research activity within the newly formed Divisions and explore options for greater collaborative working.

The post-holder will support the identification and realisation of a range of UK and international opportunities for external funding, often working in partnership with industry and public sector agencies. This will include support for securing major European awards, large RCUK portfolios and other relevant schemes are within the post’s scope. The post will play a key support role in the development and co-ordination of the School’s impact portfolio, including commercialisation initiatives. The post-holder will also be a key liaison point for the University’s Contracts Teams for both research and business-related projects.

This is a full-time permanent role which is available from 1 December 2017.
