Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Systems Administrator

University of Sheffield - Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre

Location: Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, working across the Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMRC with Boeing, Catcliffe, Rotherham S60 5TZ) and Sheffield Business Park (Factory 2050, Europa View, Sheffield S9 1ZA) campuses (either side of the parkway, near to M1 J33).

As the AMRC continues to grow, we need to continually improve to maintain our world-class reputation. We have identified an opportunity for an experienced PLM systems administrator to contribute to the ongoing success of the organisation, by facilitating functionality development and rollout, and maintenance of our Windchill PLM system.

In this role, you will provide AMRC-wide support by working with personnel throughout the organisation and external parties. You will gain understanding of the requirements for the PLM system, and implement the necessary system configuration to enable the required functionality.

If you have an interest in high value manufacturing such as aerospace and automotive, then every day will bring the opportunity to work alongside personnel carrying out applied state of the art research relating to this technology. You will support step change improvements in our operating practices whilst being supported to develop your skills.

Your immediate colleagues will be two small teams (IT and Quality and Environmental Management) supporting a large and complex organisation. You will need to communicate effectively with a wide range of personnel, manage and prioritise a variable workload. Your knowledge of information management systems and experience of front-end administration of complex computer systems will be critical in successfully achieving the objectives of the role.

The successful applicant will hold a good honours degree (or equivalent experience) in Information Systems Management. We are looking for someone who has the same real passion for improving the day to day working practices of all personnel as we do, and is self-motivated to complete short- and long-term projects. You will be offered a clear progression route and be able to shape the role because it is a new position.

Support will be provided to allow you to concurrently develop your knowledge and skills with regard to Windchill ProjectLink and Windchill PDMLink whilst working to implement and roll out additional functionality, and undertaking day to day maintenance and administration of the system which is already up and running.

Windchill is a complex system operating in a complex environment, and you will need experience of front-end systems administration, demonstrable information systems management skills, and excellent interpersonal skills to be successful in the role.

It is an exciting time to join the AMRC as we continue to develop and you will be supported with the potential to develop your own skills and career as well as benefitting from the opportunities associated with working at the University of Sheffield.
