The Department of Statistics at LSE is world leading in teaching and research in Actuarial Science. The Department is strongly committed to delivering high quality education on the Actuarial Science programme. Actuarial science applies mathematical skills to a range of applied subjects and helps to solve important problems for insurance, government, commerce, industry and academic researchers.  

As an Assistant Professorial Lecturer you will be expected to deliver excellence in course design, delivery and management, inspirational teaching, a demonstrable contribution to student learning and advice, and a strong contribution to departmental educational, administrative and collegial activities. The post holder will teach and develop actuarial courses, and be responsible for managing the Actuarial Science programme.

Candidates should have: Expertise in the field of Statistics, to a demonstrably high level and in-depth knowledge of Actuarial Science, evidence of a strong track record in teaching and a commitment to high-quality teaching and fostering a positive learning environment for students, an ability to teach Statistics at undergraduate level and strong interpersonal and networking skills that enable the development of internal networks. Experience of course level leadership, including course design, delivery and management is desirable.
