Fixed term Project Coordinator M2A

Salary: £33,518 to £38,833 per annum (pro-rata if part time) together with USS pension benefits, if required.

Main Purpose of the Post

The M2A operation is funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) via the Welsh European Funding Office (WEFO) and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). The total project value is £20million with a 7-year lifetime. All publications and communications should acknowledge the funding sources.

The Project Coordinator will attend meetings with existing and prospective industrial and academic partner with a view to expanding the partner base. This will require excellent written and oral communication skills so that all stakeholders are effectively managed and informed. The Project Coordinator will develop student recruitment strategies to increase applications to the M2A from suitable candidates. Working with the finance officer and the administrator, the Project Coordinator will support the Project Manager through the collation of data into monthly reports on project progress, outputs and the finance status. The Project Coordinator will interface with other engineering projects in Wales, particularly the Work Based Learning project, METaL, the SPECIFIC IKC, the AIM facility and the ERDF funded ASTUTE project. The Project Coordinator will attend conferences and networking events all over the UK and will support commercialisation of project outputs. The Project Coordinator will work with the students enrolled on the scheme to facilitate their research and to capture outputs and findings. The effective communication of project success to stakeholders is a critical part of this position. The Project Coordinator will have sufficient latitude to exercise a wide degree of creativity and use initiative and judgment to deliver benefit to the M2A. The Project Coordinator will have had experience of working with the materials and manufacturing sector and will have excellent research skills. The Project coordinator will be responsible for growing the number of industrial partners and for supporting effective recruitment of suitable students onto the Masters and Doctorate schemes. The Project Coordinator will assist the Project Manager and the Project directors in the process of generating future proposals that will ensure the sustainability of this operation beyond the current lifetime. The Project Coordinator will also support the PM in all aspects of monitoring and evaluation and reporting of project progress to funders.
