Key role: Teaching and assessment of HND Business Management course at London Churchill College.

About The College

London Churchill College is a well-established independent college of further and higher education offering a range of programmes at undergraduate levels in the areas of Business, Computing and Systems Development, Hospitality Management and Health & Social Care. The college is seeking to recruit a number of lecturer in health & social care department.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

  • Give lectures, seminars, tutorials and other classes as appropriate in support of the required teaching obligations.
  • Supervise student dissertations and other project work.
  • Maintain a broad knowledge of up-to-date research and scholarship in relevant fields to ensure that teaching meets the standards expected within a research-led College
  • Undertake all academic duties (i.e. setting examination questions, marking, invigilation, and pastoral support of students) required to sustain the delivery of high quality teaching.
  • Provide tutorial support to a group of students
  • Support and comply with the College and departmental teaching quality assurance standards and procedures including the provision of such information as may be required by the College.
  • Assist programme leader or programme manager in various academic tasks.
  • Any other relevant works

Administration and Other Activities

  • Attend departmental meetings; other committees as required and staff meetings
  • Comply with the quality assurance and enhancement framework of the college
  • Comply with all college policies and procedures
  • Participate in relevant professional activities.
  • Co-operate with colleagues in the continuous review and development of the curriculum and in the design and launch of new degrees or other academic awards where appropriate.

Person Specification


  • A degree or equivalent in a business management subject.
  • A masters level qualification in a business related subject
  • Solid business experience in the Business Management field.
  • A minimum of two years part time teaching experience, preferably in a higher or further education setting
  • Good effective communication (oral and written) skills, presentation and training skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to write suitable student course/module handbooks, modules and units
  • Practical understanding of Level 4, 5 and 6 Business Management outcomes


  • PhD qualification in a relevant field
  • Professional qualification in Business Management or similar field
  • Experience of managing tutors
  • Ability to chair internal meetings/committees/boards effectively
  • Experience of quality assurance issues in a QAA reviewed institution
  • External examiner experience
  • Experience of recruiting tutors
  • Experience of research

Salary: Negotiable

The grade and initial salary will depend upon qualifications and experience of the candidate.
