Key role: To partake in the teaching and assessment of Health & Social Care courses at London Churchill College.

About The College

London Churchill College is a well-established independent college of further and higher education offering a range of programmes at undergraduate levels in the areas of Business, Computing and Systems Development, Hospitality Management and Health & Social Care. The college is seeking to recruit a number of lecturer in health & social care department.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Give lectures, seminars, tutorials and other classes as appropriate in support of the required teaching obligations
  • Supervise research work
  • Maintain a broad knowledge of up-to-date research in the relevant fields to ensure that teaching meets the standards expected
  • Undertake all academic duties (i.e. setting assignments, marking, and pastoral support of students) required to sustain the delivery of high quality teaching
  • Provide tutorial support to groups of students
  • Support and comply with the College and departmental teaching quality assurance standards and procedures including the provision of such information as may be required by the College
  • Engage in continuous professional development, for example through participation in relevant staff development courses
  • Assist programme leader or programme manager in various academic tasks.
  • Any other relevant works

Person Specification

The successful candidates will have:


  • An Honours degree or equivalent in a Health & Social Care subject
  • A Masters level qualification in a health care related subject
  • A minimum of two years teaching experience, preferably in a higher education sector
  • Good effective communication (oral and written) skills, presentation and training skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to write suitable unit handbooks, unit assessments and assessments marking
  • High degree of digital literacy, being familiar with using Virtual Learning Environment software systems and possess proficiency in MS PowerPoint and Word


  • PhD qualification in a relevant field
  • Professional qualification in Health Care or similar field
  • Experience of quality assurance issues in a QAA reviewed institution
  • External examiner experience
  • Experience of research
  • Links with industry
  • Industry experience

Salary: Negotiable

The grade and initial salary will depend upon qualifications and experience of the candidate.
