Postdoctoral Research Associate in Synthetic Organic Materials Chemistry (2 posts)

Durham University - Department of Chemistry

Closing Date: 16 October 2017 (Midday)

Funding is available for two Postdoctoral Research Associate positions to design, synthesise and characterise organic materials which will demonstrate high performance thermoelectric properties in molecular junctions and as self-assembled films between electrodes. The overall aim of the projects is to use new tailor-made organic molecules to develop thermoelectric materials and prototype nanoscale devices for applications in information and communication technology and energy management. The projects are funded by the EU Horizon 2020 FETOPEN programme.

The work will be supervised by Professor Martin R. Bryce ( These are highly interdisciplinary projects involving close collaboration with a consortium of groups from academia and industry within Europe who specialise in experimental physics, nanoscale transport measurements, nanoscale device engineering and computation.

Both posts are a 24 month PDRA position in synthetic organic materials chemistry. Successful applicants will ideally be in post by January-February 2018, or as soon as possible thereafter.
