Research Officer

Starting Salary: £32,548 (Grade 7) p.a.

The School of Electronic Engineering of Bangor University, Wales, invites applications for a 12 month Research Officer post to work on the ‘SPARC II’ project (‘Solar Photovoltaic Academic Research Consortium’) under the supervision of Dr Zengbo Wang. The project is a collaboration between Swansea University and Bangor University and the successful candidate will be working with the team of engineers and scientists across Wales. The scheme has been part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government. Applicants should possess a PhD degree (or be near to completion of a PhD) in a relevant area of engineering or physics and experience in the area of Photovoltaics modelling and simulation, design and optimisation. A track record of high-quality scientific publications is desirable. 

The successful candidate will be involved to support a number of key research issues including 1) light guide solar concentrator design and simulation, 2) Tandem, OPV, Perovskite solar cells modelling and simulation, and 3) Theoretical support to the whole consortium.

The School of Electronic Engineering achieved the UK’s fourth place ranking for research outputs in the last Research Assessment Exercise (RAE2014), acknowledging the School as world leading in its research activities.

The appointee will commence on 1st December 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.
