Hours per week: Full time (35 hours) but part-time (28 hours) will be considered
Contract type: Fixed-term for 2 years

The Institute of Development Studies (IDS) is a leading global organisation for research, teaching and communication on international development, and is based on the University of Sussex campus surrounded by the beautiful countryside of the Sussex South Downs.

The Cities Cluster at IDS focuses on the circumstances of poor and vulnerable people and explores ways in which different forms of inequalities interact to produce both good and bad outcomes for people in cities.

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Post-doctoral Researcher. He or she will contribute to project coordination and reporting to the eventual production of high quality publications, and will take particular responsibility for supporting, coordinating, extending and interpreting GIS and related mapping work being undertaken in each of the cities.

Applicants will possess a PhD in a relevant subject, along with Knowledge of GIS and related analysis. The role requires excellent analytical, research method (qualitative and/or quantitative) and writing skills, demonstrated by a record of projects, publications and reports. The successful candidate will have significant research and/or professional experience working on urban development issues.
