Research Associate/Fellow in Synthetic/Polymer Chemistry

Salary: £26,495 to £32,548 per annum, depending on skills and experience (minimum £29799 with relevant PhD)

We are looking for a highly motivated Research Associate/Fellow with experience in synthetic (organic and/or polymer) chemistry to join this project funded by Cancer Research UK. The post holder will be working on the project “Specific mannose receptor blockade as a novel tool for reprogramming tumour-associated macrophages for anticancer therapy”.

This research project is a proof of concept study that brings together multidisciplinary expertise in Mannose Receptor (MR) and macrophage biology, polymer chemistry, molecular pathology and cancer biology to ascertain the therapeutic potential of MR-binding polymers in cancer.

The person appointed will have the opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary research team alongside a newly recruited Research Fellow with expertise in cell culture and immunology, who will lead the in vitro biological part of this project.

The Research Associate/Fellow will use their initiative and creativity to identify areas for research, develop research methods and extend their research portfolio. Excellent hands-on synthetic organic chemistry and/or polymer chemistry is essential. Expertise in cell culture is desirable.

This full-time fixed-term post must start by 1 November 2017 and is for a period of 24 months.
