Lectureship in Ceramics

Imperial College London - Department of Materials, Faculty of Engineering

Campus: South Kensington and White City

The Department of Materials wishes to appoint a new colleague to join its academic staff. The appointed academic will be supported in their development of an internationally leading experimental research programme in ceramic materials, more specifically relating properties to processing via microstructure.

The appointee will join a vibrant and exciting Materials department that enjoys an ethos of collaboration and is recognised as world leading with strong international links. He or she will be expected to attract and supervise high-quality PhD students, supervise postdoctoral research staff, publish papers in leading peer-reviewed journals, disseminate research findings at international conferences, seek and obtain external research funding, and contribute to the Department’s outstanding undergraduate and Master’s teaching programmes. The appointee will be expected to interact with scientists and engineers from other departments across Imperial, as well as develop external collaborations both nationally and internationally.

We invite applications from exceptional candidates with demonstrable expertise in ceramics, with complementary research interests to our existing activities. Applicants should hold a PhD (or equivalent) in the physical sciences, engineering, or a related discipline, as well as substantial, relevant postdoctoral experience. The appointee will have (or have demonstrated a strong potential to develop) an international reputation, an outstanding publication record, evidence of securing research funding and experience of teaching undergraduate students.
