Research Fellow in Railway Power Systems Analysis

Fixed term up to 12 months

Grade 7 - Full time starting salary is normally in the range £29,301 to £38,183. With potential progression once in post to £40,523 a year.

This post is to contribute to the creation of knowledge in the area of railway power systems within key research projects recently awarded to the University of Birmingham. The post holder will undertake a specified range of activities within the Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education (BCRRE) on projects involving railway systems.

The successful candidate will hold a first degree in a relevant subject, e.g. Electrical/Electronic Engineering and a higher degree or equivalent relevant to railway power systems and analysis, and will be familiar with the elements and challenges of systems engineering in a railway context.

The post holder will be expected to develop and maintain excellent contacts with industry stakeholders for the purposes of performing structured research. Ideally this will be based on existing rail industry contacts held by the candidate. Other duties, including to provision of support to students and contributions to administrative activities within the Centre may be required as needed.
