The Department has a strong record in both research and teaching and close collaborations with industry. 91% of its research activity was graded as either world-leading or internationally excellent in the Research Excellence Framework 2014 and it is consistently very highly placed in the National Student Survey, for example 95.76% Overall Satisfaction in NSS 2017, ranked 4th in the UK.

Bath has a compact, single-site campus that facilitates multi-disciplinary research. The post-holders will join a successful and expanding department and benefit from the peer support of a large group of Early Career Researchers, in additional to a formal development and mentoring programme. In addition to a full CV, applicants must provide research and teaching statements of up to two pages each. The research statement should outline plans for research activity and grant capture over the next five years and the fit with existing robotics and autonomous systems research in the Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering and across the University, for example in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science. The teaching statement should detail areas of teaching expertise and range of potential modules in the new programmes.

Prior to drawing up a shortlist, potential candidates may be invited to visit the Department to meet staff and give a presentation on their research and teaching interests (this will be by Skype for international applicants).
