Research Fellow in Public Health Economics

We are looking for an enthusiastic Research Fellow to join a growing team to work on a UK Medical Research Council funded project looking at the role of food system changes (e.g. food prices, reformulation, policies) in changing consumer behavior and improving population health.

Majority of the work will be based on the analysis of a large dataset of British households food and beverage expenditures spanning from 2012-2017 (Kantar Worldpanel) to understand purchasing patterns for consumption at homes and out of homes and how changes in food system, have influenced these patterns. Depending on the interest of the Research Fellow, there is also an opportunity to work on developing a discrete choice experiment to evaluate the likely effects of health related food policies and combine stated and revealed preference data.

The post offers an excellent opportunity to conduct highly topical research and undertake advanced level of data analysis in an important area of public health economics and contribute to ongoing policy debates.  The ideal candidate will have a postgraduate degree (PhD or MSc with relevant work experience), in economics, food/agricultural economics, health economics, statistics or a related discipline and/or experience in large scale data analyses.

The post is full time and based in London. The post is initially available for 3 years with the possibility of extension. The salary will be on the Academic Pathway Grade 6 scale in the range £38,533-£43,759 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available.
