Basis: Fixed-term contract for 12 months or sooner upon the return of the substantive post holder.

The Faculty of Health and Wellbeing, at the University of Central Lancashire, is recognised as a centre of excellence for world-class patient-centred applied research. There has been, and there will be further, significant investment in the development of the Lancashire Clinical Trials Unit (CTU), and more widely in the Faculty Research Support Team.

We are seeking to appoint maternity cover for the role of Business and Operations Manager. This role supports the CTU Management Team and the Faculty Director of Research and Innovation (FaDRI) in operational and business management. Lancashire CTU provides expertise in the delivery of feasibility and evaluation trials, and other well-designed studies, relating to complex interventions.

The Business and Operations Manager will support Lancashire CTU and the wider Faculty of Health and Wellbeing with the applications for, and management of, collaborative research support. This role will be split approximately 0.5 FTE supporting Lancashire CTU and 0.5 FTE supporting the FaDRI and research teams more widely. The role will include the provision of services, setting up contracts, and co-ordinating finances and staffing from within the CTU and of research teams across the Faculty. The post-holder will be required to develop markets and raise the Lancashire CTU profile and Faculty research expertise through promotional activity and, as part of their role, will also provide support with training and appraising CTU and Faculty staff.

With experience of research contracts execution, research administration experience, and of co-ordinating a team, the successful applicant will have high-level attention to detail and problem solving abilities. Educated to degree level or equivalent, the successful applicant will have strong communication and negotiation skills and the ability to build productive relationships with a variety of key stakeholders. With a flexible approach to work, high level attention to detail and problem solving abilities, the successful applicant will have excellent administrative organisational and project management skills.
