Research Assistant/Associate

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral post in calcium signalling by lysosomes to work in the laboratory of Prof. Colin Taylor at the Department of Pharmacology, University of Cambridge. The lab combines diverse approaches to examine the structural basis of intracellular calcium signalling and it enjoys collaborations with labs in other disciplines. Applicants will have, or be close to obtaining, a PhD. A knowledge of cell biology and lysosomes, and experience with advanced optical microscopy and quantitative image analysis are essential.

The appointee will be enthusiastic, careful and methodical, ready to accept responsibility individually and as part of a team, self-motivated, able to organise, perform and analyse experiments with considerable independence, engaged with the literature, keen to combine different approaches to explore mechanisms of calcium signalling, and willing to contribute to teaching others.

Funds are available for up to 2 years (to December 31, 2019) with effect from 1 January 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The key duties require the development and execution of a research project, but the appointees will also be involved with our outreach activities, contribute to the activities of others in the lab, and take a share of communal lab responsibilities.
