We are seeking to recruit an Administration Assistant to provide a range of administrative support to Information Services (IS) department, and in particular the Assistant Directors, to enable the department to operate effectively and efficiently.

As an Administration Assistant you will:

  • Provide a professional administration service to the Information Services department and its customers to ensure the effective operation of the department
  • Provide a range of Personal Assistant activities to Assistant Directors to ensure that they use their time to the best advantage and maximise their contribution to the University.
  • Provide timely and efficient support to meetings, committees and events to ensure effective use of time and resources.
  • Manage and support Health and Safety monitoring and processes to ensure the safe operation of the departments services
  • Play a pro-active role in the work of the Administration Team as a whole to support the delivery and continuous improvement of the services provided.

To succeed in this role you will:

  • Be educated to GCSE English and Maths at grade C or equivalent with ECDL or equivalent IT qualification/experience
  • Previous experience of working in a busy office environment, able to respond positively to changing priorities
  • Experience of working with confidential information and dealing with sensitive information with tact and discretion
  • Previous experience of supporting meetings including preparing agendas and taking minutes
  • Demonstrable experience of using Microsoft Office products including designing and maintaining Excel spreadsheets

Information Services is comprised of four sections: Customer Support, Library Collections and IT Development together directly support almost all areas of University activity, and the Planning and Administration section supports the work of the department. The IT Support Services subsection of Customer Services is responsible for the support and operation of all live central IT systems on the University’s Canterbury, Medway and Tonbridge campuses.
