Whipple Librarian

The University Library invites applications for the role of Whipple Librarian at the Department of the History and Philosophy of Science. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a first-rate subject-based library service that supports the Department's undergraduate and graduate programmes and its reputation for international excellence. Reporting to the Head of Humanities and Social Sciences Libraries, the Librarian will contribute towards the broader strategic and policy development of affiliated library services, whilst locally consulting with the Department to identify and support its particular teaching, learning and research requirements.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate their awareness of the national issues and the Cambridge context influencing the development of library services, offer the skills to engage proactively with the academic and library communities, as well as the ability to motivate and collaborate with a small library team. Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills are essential, as well as a proficiency with standard and library IT software.
