Your job is to develop new technologies and business models, within the technology team, in the area of sharing data with transparency and trust. The projects will be across the creative industries, digital manufacturing and the Internet of Things, and will use technologies such as distributed ledgers / blockchain.

Before data can be analysed and new insights extracted, they need to be made available. This requires guaranteeing transparency and trust. It is your role to help build this infrastructure, by identifying barriers, prototyping and testing new technologies to understand their feasibility and impact. You will help startups, SMEs and large organizations drive innovation using data; contributing to innovative research ideas and projects from inception to delivery.

What you'll do:

  • Show creativity in defining new solutions to increase trust, transparency and control in data sharing.
  • Support and develop early stage technology prototypes
  • Develop collaborative funding public and commercial proposals across EU, UK and other international frameworks.
  • Support stakeholders engagement and development of a trusted decentralized testbed for sharing of data assets.
  • Work in multidisciplinary teams in developing, scaling and deploying technology for core projects, such as for increasing transparency in algorithms.
  • Share expertise in presentations and co-authored white papers, best practice and position papers, technical publications & blogs.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience or interest in prototyping solutions using distributed ledger technologies (e.g. Ethereum, Hyperledger).
  • Ability to discuss the role of Blockchain to generate trust in data sharing, control, ownership, reputation accountability.
  • Broad commercial and academic experience, ideally with some experience working in a startup environment.
  • Wide understanding of current technology, legal and commercial debates around anonymisation, data ownership and consent, multi-stakeholder trust (knowledge and understanding of EU General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR – is considered a plus).
  • Excellent analytical and reasoning skills, interest to learn new tools and topics, ability to cope with changing and evolving priorities.
  • Degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or similar field (Post graduate degree of advantage). Previous contributions to open source projects and involvement in meetups an advantage.
