Research and Prospect Officer

University of Southampton - Research, Analytics & Data

This post presents an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our dedicated Data and Analytics Team within the Office of Development and Alumni Relations (ODAR). Working alongside our Fundraising and Alumni and Supporter Engagement Teams, the Research and Prospect Officer provides insightful profiles of our alumni and friends and assists with the development and management of ongoing relationships.

The research you will create informs the conversations our fundraising teams, academics and senior management have with our alumni and donors. It allows our staff to build and cultivate mutually beneficial connections – making a real difference to the philanthropic income generated by the University and the ongoing reciprocal relationships with alumni and supporters.

The work will be varied, and include a variety of interesting requests. You could be asked to collate information on alumni attending a reunion event; provide profiling on a range of companies supporting climate change agendas; or gather information to support the development of a relationship with an existing donor. All completed with the aim of enriching our supporters’ experience with Southampton, through strategic approaches.

We are looking for a highly literate, accurate and analytical individual who thrives when dealing with obtaining and presenting research findings. You will be able to condense a variety of information into a usable and useful format, confident to present these to the team in a written or verbal format. You will have excellent time management skills and be motivated to work independently, yet an effective team player who takes a flexible approach to their work.

You will be joining the team at an exciting time, as ODAR closes its first major fundraising campaign for a new Centre for Cancer Immunology, which launched in 2015. The £25m Centre will be the first of its kind in the UK and among an elite group world-wide. Your work will help support this current campaign, whilst also helping us plan for our future.

Just over an hour outside London in a beautiful leafy location, the University of Southampton ranks among the UK’s top 15 research-intensive universities and is a place of transformation. Through education and research, innovation and enterprise, we unlock potential and provide opportunities that transform the lives of our students, our community, society and the economy.
