About the job
In order to meet our 2025 Vision, Swinburne International is currently seeking three Associate Deans International to work in each of the Higher Education faculties and with Swinburne International. The Associate Professor or Professor position (depending on qualifications and experience) for each Faculty will be a continuing position aligned with the relevant faculty disciplines. The successful candidate will be given the role of Associate Dean (International) for a period of five years, which will be annually reviewed and renewed after five years, if mutually agreed.

In this newly created role, you will be responsible for the strategic development and oversight of the operational implementation of the university’s international strategy for the Faculty. Reporting to both the Dean Transnational Education in the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor International and the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the relevant Faculty, you will ensure that the Faculty has appropriately implemented the University’s international programs quality assurance, course development and accreditation policy and procedures as established by the University. 
Collaborating across the University, with the Deans and other Associate Deans within the Faculty, your role will be to drive, develop and implement strategies to support Swinburne’s 2025 strategy. Additionally, you will work closely with a number of teams within the University, including International Student Recruitment, Learning Transformations, Education and Quality and Student Advancement and Department Chairs.

Combining your team-orientated approach, you possess a strong international education knowledge and have proven experience, leadership, teaching and scholarly research record. You will have demonstrated scholarship in international education, partnership management and/or product innovation including research and publication.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Earned doctorate or equivalent in a discipline relevant to the Faculty.
  • Evidence of academic excellence, distinguished contributions to scholarship, research and leadership in higher education in international contexts or in international partnership management in higher education.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and engage academic staff across learning innovation, student engagement and support, assessment and feedback in transnational and/or international student education.
  • Substantial experience in using market research to design and lead the development of new products in the faculty’s academic disciplines and leading staff to deliver innovative course design in international settings.
