Research Fellow in Terahertz Electronics

Are you an experienced and ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have a background in semiconductor device fabrication and measurements? Do you want to further your career in one of the UK’s leading research intensive Universities?

You will join an established terahertz research team to develop and exploit ultrafast (terahertz frequency / picosecond timescale) techniques to investigate the plasmonic terahertz response of gated two-dimensional electronic systems.

The project is funded as part of a new EPSRC research project in collaboration with Imperial College London. The aim is to demonstrate the modulation and emission of THz radiation from low-dimensional semiconductors (and, in particular, from gated two-dimensional electron gases forming plasmonic cavities). You will engage in a wide-ranging programme of experimental research and be expected to write high quality articles in primary archival journals based on your results.

You should hold, or shortly expect to obtain, a PhD in Physics, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline. Experience is required in terahertz time-domain measurement techniques, in semiconductor device fabrication in a cleanroom environment, and of low temperature measurements.
