The School of Chemistry at University College Dublin wishes to appoint an Assistant Professor in the area of Chemical Biology / Biopharmaceutical Chemistry with a starting date in 2018.

This is a permanent, full-time position based at the School of Chemistry in the O’Brien Centre for Science on the Belfield Campus. Candidates will have experience in the development of novel chemical tools and technologies for the understanding of biology and the synthesis of biological and biologically active molecules. Candidates with expertise in such topics as biocatalysis, chemical biology approaches for post-translational control of protein function, glycochemistry, antibody-drug conjugation, nucleic acid chemistry, and molecular approaches to understanding biological signalling, with the potential to translate into biomedical and/or (bio-) pharmaceutical applications, will be preferred. In addition, Candidates will also demonstrate: A high quality, internationally-recognised research track record appropriate to the stage of her or his career, the potential to attract the external funding necessary to support an active research programme, evidence of the ability to effectively teach a wide range of topics, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, within the fields of Chemical Biology, Medicinal Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry, an ability to direct and supervise postgraduate students, and the willingness and ability to undertake administrative and other appropriate duties on behalf of the School and the University.

95 Lecturer/Assistant Professor (above the bar) Salary Scale: €51,807-€79,194 per annum

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
