About the opportunity
A postdoctoral position is available in the area of bone tissue engineering and regenerative medicine and in particular in stem cell function regulation. The position is full-time fixed term for five years, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees. 

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to investigate stem/stromal cell function and microenvironmental regulation by understanding the vital roles of tissue microenvironments (e.g. soluble factors, physical substrates) in controlling stem cell fate for bone regeneration, aiming for the exploration of optimal biomaterials and pharmaceutical molecules for bone tissue repair and regeneration. 

Primary responsibilities will include the investigations of the signalling pathways involved in the interactions between cell/cell, cell/extracellular matrix, cell/soluble factors by various means of cell and  molecular biology skills. You will also be responsible for training PhD and Honours students on cell culturing and molecular biology skills.

We are seeking candidates with: 

  • PhD in tissue engineering/stem cell biology or related discipline is required.
  • Prior research experience in studying the signalling pathways involved in the interactions between cell/cell, cell/extracellular matrix, cell/soluble factors by various means of cell and molecular biology skills, particularly in understanding and exploring the differentiation and trophic fuction of stem cells for bone tissue regeneration.
  • Demonstrated success in the publication of high-impact work in internationally recognised peer-reviewed journals
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects and in corresponding with scientific collaborators.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment, as well as independently with minimal supervision in the completion of work tasks with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Maintaining research confidentiality and conform to all requirements for the protection of intellectual property.
  • Ensuring staff and students work and study in an inclusive environment free from all forms of discrimination and harassment.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety principles which will enable the appointee to implement these principles at an appropriate level
