WIRL-COFUND Fellow (80855-097)

University of Warwick - Institute of Advanced Study

Fixed term contracts for 2 years (8 posts available).

The Institute of Advanced Studies is seeking to recruit up to 8 outstanding early career researchers to participate in the Warwick Interdisciplinary Research Leadership Programme (WIRL). This programme is jointly funded by the University of Warwick and the European Union through the Marie Skùodowska-Curie Actions (grant agreement No 713548).

These two-year fellowships will offer successful applicants the opportunity to accelerate their research careers by developing their own independent research ideas in a world-leading research environment, under the guidance of an academic mentor. Fellows will also participate in a programme of advanced training delivered through the IAS Academic Careers and Leadership Programme in order to further develop the skills needed to support a research career.

Applicants must demonstrate transnational mobility and must not have resided or carried out their main activity in the United Kingdom for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to 2nd May 2018. Applicants should also be in possession of a PhD or 4 years equivalent research experience.

In keeping with the ethos of Warwick’s IAS, interdisciplinary research applications are strongly encouraged. Fellowships are open to applicants of any discipline who are able to demonstrate the ability to apply or extend their knowledge beyond disciplinary specialisms and propose a comprehensive and innovative research project that aligns with at least one of Warwick’s cross-faculty Global Research Priorities (GRPs). Each GRP is interdisciplinary in nature and therefore open to contributions from researchers of any faculty/disciplinary field. Fellowships are also suitable to those wishing to pursue discipline hopping research.

Successful candidates will be based in the IAS but will have a strong presence in a host academic department and GRP. Applicants are strongly encouraged to identify a potential academic mentor at Warwick and make contact with them prior to submission of the application. The starting date for the fellowships will be September 2018.

Interviews to be held 2-4 May 2018.
